Why I photograph maternity

Maternity photos are about a short stretch of time you will not get back. The goal is not a perfect pose. It is a record of how this chapter looked and felt, for you and for the baby who will one day ask about it.

I photograph maternity sessions across Dallas–Fort Worth, in your home or outdoors at golden hour. I give gentle direction and leave room for the real moments, like a partner's hand on your belly or an older sibling who cannot stop talking about the baby.

Perfect for

First babies · growing families · couples · sessions with siblings

The feel

Soft, unposed, warm. Gentle direction, never stiff.

Best light

Golden hour outdoors, or window light at home.

Where

Your home, or parks and water around Dallas–Fort Worth

Home or golden hour

Which is right for you?

In your home. We use one or two rooms with good window light, usually your bedroom and the nursery. It is relaxed, there is no travel, and it often feels the most like you.

Outdoors. A golden-hour session at a park or by the water gives you glowing light and room for a flowing gown. I like Lakeside Park in Highland Park and White Rock Lake, and we pick the place together.

Planning

When to book, what to wear

Between 28 and 34 weeks is the sweet spot: you are showing beautifully and still comfortable enough to enjoy it. Reach out earlier if you can, since I take a limited number of sessions each month.

Keep it simple and comfortable. Every session includes a styling conversation beforehand, so you are not guessing. More in Dallas maternity photos: when to book and what to wear.

Investment

What it costs

I photograph maternity sessions for families in Highland Park, Bluffview, Preston Hollow, Lakewood and Oak Cliff, Plano, Frisco, Fort Worth and Southlake, as well as across the rest of Dallas–Fort Worth.

A maternity session begins at $750. If you are also planning newborn photos, The First Chapter pairs your maternity session with an in-home newborn session for $1,350. That saves $200 and reserves your newborn window at the same time. See in-home newborn sessions. A signed agreement and a 50% reservation fee hold your date.
