How Much Does a Wedding Photographer Cost in Dallas?

It is the question everyone wants answered first and almost nobody puts in the first email. So let me just answer it.

My wedding collections begin at $3,850. That covers up to ten hours of coverage, a complimentary engagement session before the day, a custom timeline we build together, your full high-resolution gallery with printing rights, and sneak peeks within 48 hours.

Every wedding is quoted personally, because a 40-person dinner in a backyard and a 250-person Saturday downtown are not the same job. But that is the floor, and I would rather you know it now than three emails in.

What actually moves the number

When photographers quote differently for what looks like the same day, it is almost always one of these:

• Hours. Coverage that starts at hair and makeup and runs through the exit is a very different day than four hours around the ceremony.
• A second photographer. Two angles on the vows, and someone with the other partner during prep. Worth it at larger weddings, unnecessary at small ones.
• Travel. Anywhere in Dallas–Fort Worth is included for me. Outside it, we talk.
• What you get afterward. Albums, prints and wall pieces are their own line, and they should be optional rather than bundled into a number you cannot break apart.

What to compare, if you are comparing

Price is the easiest thing to compare and the least useful on its own. A few things I would look at instead:

Ask to see one full wedding, start to finish. Not a portfolio of highlights from thirty different days. Anyone can assemble twenty good frames. A whole gallery shows you what an ordinary hour of your wedding will actually look like.

Ask who is holding the camera. At some studios you book a brand and meet your photographer for the first time on the morning of. I am the one shooting your day from start to finish. No handoffs.

Ask when you get your photos. Sneak peeks within 48 hours and the full gallery in four to six weeks is what I hold myself to. Some galleries take six months, and nobody tells you that until you are waiting.

On booking the cheapest quote

I will not tell you the least expensive photographer is always the wrong call. Budgets are real and there are talented people early in their careers doing lovely work.

What I will say is that photography is the only vendor whose product you receive after everything else is over. The flowers wilt, the cake gets eaten, the band goes home. What is left is the thing you look at in ten years. It is worth deciding what that is worth to you before you sort quotes by price.
