Dallas Maternity Photos: When to Book & What to Wear

This season is short — it’s worth slowing down for. I photograph maternity the way it actually feels: quiet, warm, a little in awe. Whether we shoot outdoors in the last good light of the day or at home where it all started, here’s how to plan for it.

When to Book Your Maternity Session

Most maternity sessions happen around 28–34 weeks — far enough along for a beautiful, defined bump, early enough to still feel comfortable on your feet. Reach out earlier in your pregnancy so we can hold the right window, especially if you’d like to pair it with a newborn session later.

What to Wear

Flowing dresses and soft, solid fabrics photograph beautifully, and neutral tones keep the focus on you. Fitted pieces that show the bump work wonderfully too. I keep a collection of ideas and can point you toward gowns — and I send a full what-to-wear guide once you book.

Where We’ll Shoot

Golden-hour spots across Dallas–Fort Worth — think tree-lined light and water at places like Lakeside Park — or in-home if you’d rather keep it close and intimate. That soft evening light is my favorite for the glowing maternity feel.

Pair It With a Newborn Session

Many families book maternity and newborn together — a beautiful way to document the whole chapter, from bump to baby. Ask me about it when you reach out.
